Setting High Standards For Myself

When Building my business setting high standards for myself was one the most important things. I am my biggest critic and making sure I leave my clients happy with their new environment proves to me that I exceeded my own goal for myself. Let us go over the goals that I have set:
Build Trust: I am coming into strangers' homes. they are spending their hard-earned money to better their space and have trust that the work you're paying for is something that comes first when hiring someone. I once had a client that was scared to let me in. She had gotten rude with me stating she didn't understand how I was a Professional in something being so young. Instead of just telling her that she wasn't worth my time, and trust me I wanted to after some one the things that were said, I talked to her, after explaining further my process, my goal for her, and re-stating her fears to validate her feelings, she was willing to move forward with the appointment.
On the day of the appointment while talking she started crying out of fear and stress. But within the first 2 out of 6 hours, she was happy and stated how impressed she was and we weren't even done! Her trust in me had grown and she was willing to allow me to dig deeper into her more personal belongings.
Honor Promises/ Honesty/Embody Intregredy: Before any appointment starts I make sure a contract has been signed between both parties. My contract is a written promise of (in detail) the project that is at hand. To the best of my ability.
Here's what that means to me- I once had a client that agreed to schedule two appointments with me because she had a big project at hand for me. But the project was never finished. By the end of the first appointment, I did everything I could for her, But she didn't get the supplies that were needed to finish and I wasn't going to waste her own time finishing a project just for her to hire me again to redo it. (Honesty) After voicing my concerns and opinion she agreed (She even told me she appreciated my honesty and wanting to respect her and her money) to re-schedule her second appointment for two weeks. But with some unfortunate circumstances, the appointment was canceled by the client two more times. By the second time, I told her to call me when she was ready to schedule but that new appointment was never made (to this date). I kept my promise, to the best of my ability, but without the tools that the client said they would have, I was unable to finish the project. Projects aren’t about the money for me, it is about making people's lives better.
Be Responsive: While on the initial phone call with a potential client, I take notes as we talk. I ask questions, like what their ultimate goal is. and While I work I ask questions that are based on the project. Are left-handed or right-handed? what does your everyday look like? do you cook or bake more? ECT. All of these questions teach me about you and your life. I take all that I learn about you and I put it into my work.
As I’m finishing up a project I ask clients if they like the progress so far and if there is anything I could change for them. So far I haven't yet had a client that has said yes, but if I did I would listen to their thoughts and change accordingly.
Tell the truth/Be transparent: This goes back to trust. One time as I was working I had tripped and dropped a box of clients' stuff that turned out to be valuable memorabilia, The trip was over something I couldn't control, not only do accidents happen but I had tripped over a client's pet that had gotten under my foot. I was honest with the cleint and I had even offered to give them a discount. Because of my honesty, the client refused to accept the discount and wasn't mad about what had happened.
Safeguard Privacy: One of the notes I make in the contract is promising privacy, especially when asking to take and post photos. Your Privacy is one of my most respected promises to you and your family. Pictured Below is an after photo of the most recent bathroom I did. I had covered a family photo with a sticker before publishing to give the family privacey.
One project I was trying to take pictures and the clients kids kept ending up in the background and I didnt notice they were still viable till I got home so I didnt upload and Deleted all photos off of my drive.
